However I have ran into a small problem. I tweaked everything (twice) and outside it runs like butter, however the problem is inside.
For example in the temple (or whatever it is) of Bleak Falls Barrow, it LAGS like crazy…. :S
I am guessing the problem is:
1. the lightning
2. the shadows
When you enter the area (temple), left and right moves quick, but the center (where you can see the 2 thieves in the background) lags and jutters like crazy….
Any idea on solving this, please?
And thanks once again and keep up the excellent work!!!
I’m re-writing the whole tool with the “Less Is More” in mind.
The tool will also write the correct values for both a clean/good Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini. The next version will have 2 outputs (Still in one screen) so both Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini get the correct and most importantly working values
Thanks for the answer, however I used the new .cfg maker along with the lowest interiour shadow thing you mentioned, hower it still lags like crazy… :S
Any advice?
System specs:
Intel Core i7 970 @ 4.5 Ghz.
12 GB RAM
2x 470 GTX (SLI)
1x 260 GTX (Physx)
x 120GB OCZ Vertex2 SSD in RAID 0
Let me know, thanks.

Any ideas which setting is causing this massive lag?
I will also try the new cfg maker, but since I don’t know which setting is causing the lag, it’s kinda difficult.
Like stated before; it only happens when I am inside with light / shadow (and maybe people)?
Guys i have tried these settings but when i launch the game using launcher it auto detects my hardware and reset all settings. When i exit the game i chequed the SkyrimPrefs and it restores all settings to default, like ipresentinterval=1. I can’t seem to understand the problem here. Can you help me out here guys.
I think i saw two generated codes for Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini, but now the site only showing SkyrimPrefs.ini. And “Read this first / HOW TO USE” seems to be changed too.
I’m live testing the new “Skyrim CFG Maker 1.6″ so It could have been you saw that for some seconds. As for the Hardware Detection you’re not filling in “”ENTER YOUR DEVICE NAME HERE -> RUN DxDIAG -> SAVE THE OUTPUT -> Copy&Paste Card name: without spaces”" with the correct data.
If you don’t fill it in correctly with your GFX card name as described Skyrim we re-detect your GFX card and all settings will be lost.

Need your help, just created a new ini file and followed the instructions as above mentioned but now when i try to load the saved game the game shuts down…. PLEASE any ideas on this???
On game load (main menu) open the console with ~ and type bat ugrid11.txt
And try to load your save. When it has loaded type (whole ingame) ~ again and bat ugrid9.txt this will load the settings and make a new save game instantly to work with the new uGridsToLoad value that is probably causing your crashes.

Yes i was using custom config file which i created from here a week or so… and my grid to load was 6 and the new one is 9 but i just changed it to 6 and still doesnt work… (although i just used the files from 2 days ago and they work fine, but obviously i would like the saved files from today to work with the new ini file…)
I had some issues understanding what you mean on how to create those ugrid files e.g.: setini “rUIMistMenu_AmbientYPosRGB:Interface” 255,255,255 is it just like copy\paste or do i take the ” and adjust the values…???
Sorry and thank you alot for the help…

It should work fine after
setini "ugridstoload:general" 5
setini "bMouseAcceleration:Controls" 0
setini "rUIMistMenu_AmbientZPosRGB:Interface" 255,255,255
setini "rUIMistMenu_AmbientZNegRGB:Interface" 255,255,255
setini "rUIMistMenu_AmbientYPosRGB:Interface" 255,255,255
setini "rUIMistMenu_AmbientYNegRGB:Interface" 255,255,255
setini "rUIMistMenu_AmbientXPosRGB:Interface" 255,255,255
setini "rUIMistMenu_AmbientXNegRGB:Interface" 255,255,255
saveini
refreshini
save "dna Skyrim Save" “ugridstoload:general” 5 is default, you could try “ugridstoload:general” 7 as well

Up and running again, everything should be working.
I’m hoping to update the tool this weekend to unload the DB a bit more.

“Interior Shadow Distance”/ fInteriorShadowDistance
set to fInteriorShadowDistance=3000.0000
And it should run smoother.

Hey Guys
Need your help, just created a new ini file and followed the instructions as above mentioned but now when i try to load the saved game the game shuts down…. PLEASE any ideas on this???
Have you used custom configs before? Did you change the uGridsToLoad value?
Two ways to go:
Open Skyrim.ini increase the uGridsToLoad value
or:
Create 3 txt files called ugrid5.txt, ugrid9.txt ugrid11.txt in the directory where your executable is (*\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim
in those files set
setini "ugridstoload:general" 5
setini "bMouseAcceleration:Controls" 0
setini "rUIMistMenu_AmbientZPosRGB:Interface" 255,255,255
setini "rUIMistMenu_AmbientZNegRGB:Interface" 255,255,255
setini "rUIMistMenu_AmbientYPosRGB:Interface" 255,255,255
setini "rUIMistMenu_AmbientYNegRGB:Interface" 255,255,255

I am not sure what you did to this but 1.6 is a major fps drainer even at the lowest setting’s possible. Granted I don’t have a gaming card my card is a 5670 512 MB card but on your 1.5 I could max almost everything out except for the terrain and shadow resolution and i got on average 40 fps outside and a solid 60 inside.
Now with 1.6 I created the default ini setting and i go back and forth between 25-35 fps outside and this is just in the beginning when you are riding on the wagon.
Please help me on what i can do to gain fps. Which of these settings is draining to much fps even on the lowest settings ???
I finally found the fps culpurt. If you are like me and having major fps drops even on the lowest settings then just delete this uGridsToLoad its at the top in our skyrim.ini.
It would be nice to know which other setting cause major fps drops. Advice anyone ?

Turn “Aniti-Aliasing” to 0 or 4 for ATI will help as well.
What’s the point in specifying the amount of ram needed for different Ugrods if the game cant use it anyway?
Or do you know a way how to make the game use 4,6,8,12, 16gb of ram?
