DNA-AMD GFX 12.2.1-preview

DNA-AMD GFX 12.2.1-preview

Allot of internal settings, support and tweaks have been changed. I have updated the internal layout so future versions of the drivers can be updated and released quicker and more often. This is the first release for 2012 and I hope everybody will like them.

Some notes:

DNA AMD GFX CLEANER: The tool has been updated and will clean the system way better than the older versions. Be sure to run this before Installing the DNA-AMD-GFX drivers

DRIVERS: Took me a bit longer than expected. I wanted to include the “Intel Switchable Graphics drivers” but the package got to big. You can install the ”Intel Switchable Graphics drivers” after installing the DNA-AMD GFX drivers (reboot in-between needed!)

64bit operating systems

64bit operating systems don’t allow modded drivers to be installed by default. To ensure the drivers will install on your systems please use ReadyDriverPlus or boot with: “F8 -> Disable Driver Signature Enforcement” on each boot! This will ensure you can use the drivers. If these steps are not followed the drivers will fail to work. A download link for the latest version can be found down below.

I’m having a hard time installing these drivers..

first I used the GFX cleaner. after reboot I got black screen. I had to boot in to safe mode and go to device manager to uninstall display drivers and re-scan for hardware changes.

second I can’t install these drivers. after finished installation I had a message that something occured and is in the log.

After reboot I got this message:

“The CCC is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphic adapter. Please update yours AMD graphic driver, or enable yours AMD adapter using the Display Manager.”

I tried to install the driver second time with the same results. I uploaded the logs if they are any of use:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?xj93ussvsseqf

    • Well thanks for the log-files but they are kind of useless as they will say the install failed but don’t give any information on why the install failed.

Your “ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series” is fully supported by the driver so I have no idea at this moment why it’s failing for you.

You could try to Install them ontop of a driver that is currently working and installed on your system.

  2. rohk00rohk00 on said:

Yep, I did that after the two failed installations. I still got the “something occured during the installation and is in the log” message but this time catalyst started without any error messages. Hopefully everything got replaced by the DNA drivers.

The other error message that appeared after the failed installations was when I tried to launch catalyst from the system tray:

“CCC cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using CCC.”

Are there any other log files that I could give? If there are any that could provide more information.

Anyway I did my tests with 3dMark. Again better result than amd! :)

Driver version: 3dMark 11 basic Score:
    DNA 12.2.1 prev P3249
    AMD 12.2 prev P3237
    DNA 12.1.1 prev P3252
    AMD 12.1a prev P3235
    AMD 11.11C P3191

One more thing. Have you ever considered to release your DNA GFX cleaner as seperate tool also? It could be handy for people who aren’t interested in your drivers or people who don’t know your drivers and are looking for “driver cleaner” and later on they would get to know your drivers also.

The plusses would be that you could update it without needing to release a new driver set. I like it despite the last “bug” that I had with it.

    • Ill look into this asap and thanks for the kind feedback.

The log files are not that informative so maybe you can make a bunch of screenshots of each and every step you take while installing/uninstalling.?

I have thought about the “DNA-AMD GFX cleaner” as a separate tool but I just don’t have the time to do it all (I’m working on the website layout, posting news, modding drivers and working on the DNA-AMD GAME panel among other things. While taking care of my Daughter as well.)

    Hi,

First off let me say THANKS for the driver. I installed replaced HP’s stock driver with this and my Vantage score went from 6066 to 6975. After I overclocked to 870/925 I received 8115. The driver has WAY farther stability over the HP version which would for whatever reason crash whenever overclocked even 1 point at desktop but never in game. The driver no longer crashes at all unless I overclock past 875.

My only question has to do with the the Intel switchable graphics driver that wasn’t included.. Where am I supposed to download this? Just the standard stock drivers or do you have an addition that i’m not seeing?

Btw system is DV7 AMD 6770M 1GB W Intel Int 3000 Second Ver.

Sorry if any of my questions/info are obvious but i’m a first time user of DNA (I used laptopvideo2go before I got my AMD card) Loving DNA so far! Thanks again!

    • I will have to look into this for the next driver. As you can see feedback has been lacking this release and without feedback/testers I can’t fix/update something as I can not test it myself in the case of “Intel switchable graphics”

  4. CammeronCammeron on said:

Well I’m already excited over the increased stability and performance increase. I’d be willing to test (Mostly on weekends) The issue of not having Intel Switchable Graphics drivers is probably pretty low profile so that makes sense. If you have anything Ati 6770M, 3100, or Intel switching i’ll watch out for it! :) I’ll try to give the feedback that I can. Also since this driver worked on my laptop I attempted an install on the 3100 that I do work on but the install failed no matter what. No issue for me as the 12.1 with 8.930 installed fine but for whatever reason the 12.2 8.940 refused to install. Thats all the feedback I have for now though :p

Any particular info you need most? (Error codes, Benchmarks, Etc???)

    Thanks for the quick reply!

    aww.. nice name. LOL.

Succesfully installed this driver. I’ll report back in a few days.

The driver is seem to be ok but only problems i’m still facing is that the Catalyst will not start and keep stop working all the time i’m install follow u every step

but i’m stick with this driver and i hope the CCC problems will be fixed soon :( i love driver but hope it function properly soon

    • xAcid9xAcid9 on said:

I think the problem lies within your system. Try use Atiman Uninstaller to remove ATI driver and most of it stuff. I had the same problem before too but i fixed it using Atiman Uninstaller.

    • rohk00rohk00 on said:

I had this same problem with my old PC with windows XP! CCC just didn’t want to launch nevertheless how many times I tried to clean up my drivers with all the driver cleaners including atiman’s.

The problem did have something to do with the .net framework and it’s “assembly” folder.

      First I followed this guide:
      http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/195195-fix-catalyst-control-center-ccc-will-not-open-install.html

I thought it would fix it but it didn’t. So I removed all the net frameworks and re-installed them using this tool:
      http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx

And yet after couple of hours the result was the same. I still didn’t want to give up.. I did the same procedure once more but this time I removed completely the “assembly” folder not just the tokens mentioned earlier topic. After all of this I got catalyst to start again..

    • How about you guys Install a driver that does work -> make a registry dump for me and send it to admin[at]donotargue[dot]com

After that install the DNA-AMD GFX 12.2.1 on top of the working driver (no uninstall or anything/just a reboot in between)
Then again -> make a registry dump for me and send it to admin[at]donotargue[dot]com

Maybe the registry is holding keys/values it shouldn’t from a long lost ancient driver install.

Also in your “Device manager” make sure under the [view] tab “show hidden devices” is turned on. It should show you one installed GFX device and not several (can also cause issues)

  7. xAcid9xAcid9 on said:

Not much to report. Everything works perfectly. There is no issue for me at all when playing games except some texture flashing/flickering in BF3. The performance is very good.. better than the previous driver i used which is v8.950 Jan17.

  8. rohk00rohk00 on said:

Will these drivers support HD 6320? My netbook has amd APU E-450.

Catalyst is slightly different on it. It’s called “AMD Vision™ Engine Control Center”.

  9. On win7 x64 after disabling driver signing I still get ‘Windows requires a digitally signed driver’ errors for atikmpag.sys and atikmdag.sys. The install then says it was successful but of course the drivers don’t work. I am starting with driver signing disabled every time so I don’t know why this is a problem. I am trying uninstalling, pre-signing the *.sy_ files in the packages directory with DSEO now, and then reinstalling. I don’t know if that will help though. Any tips would be appreciated

    • following up for anyone who has the same problem – signing the files before install worked, the drivers are functioning now. Skyrim finally works on my laptop – thanks KillerSneak!

    • This is strange, it shouldn’t be complaining about Signed drivers if you start your PC with
“”F8 -> Disable Driver Signature Enforcement on each boot!”"

It’s important you do this each time your PC boots and not only before installing the drivers.

    • bateptbatept on said:

I’m having the same problem with signed files as nhxx always boot it through f8 after updated the drivers to 12.2.1 got that error and cant even rollback to 12.1.1 getting same error.
Can you explain how did you signed that 2 files nhxx?
      Thanks in advance

    • Again for me this is a bit strange. Signing the driver files shouldn’t be needed if you boot “F8 -> Disable Driver Signature Enforcement”. I’m running a Win7 64bit system myself that is my everyday system I use for gaming and making the drivers on.

      I’m working on the “AMD Catalyst™ Software Suite Version 12.2 Pre-Certified Driver” – http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalystSoftwareSuiteVersion122PreCertified.aspx

Only thing that always fails to install for me personally is the “AMD APP SDK Runtime” I can not get that to install no matter what I try.

Another thing the “AMD Catalyst™ Software Suite Version 12.2 Pre-Certified Driver”‘s CCC will not work for me either.

The way I’m working on the driver now leaves all AMD/ATi code intact no changes have been made to the original driver I only added support for cards not in the default driver.

The driver file has grown from 5174 lines to 69827 lines, most due the the strings section having separate language support now.

I’m also thinking of re-doing the way I’m releasing driver to have them more open structured. The current build I’m working on now has descriptions added to almost everything I have done with the driver.

    • Can you give some more info “thrymek” 32Bit OS’s shouldn’t have any problems as they accept unsigned drivers unlike 64Bit Os’s

  10. I’m working on the:

“AMD Catalyst™ Software Suite Version 12.2 Pre-Certified Driver Release Notes”

from the link above. Ill try to keep it as clean as possible. I’m re-working it from scratch again as I just can’t comprehend why so much people are having installation issues.

I hope to get rid of the issues once and for all by restarting from scratch and following the default AMD drive structure/inf layout instead of the DNA custom one.

I hope this will solve most problems reported above.
